Hit Michael Caine movie has been adapted into stage musical
One of the hottest new musicals to grace the West End is set to tour to Birmingham. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels plays at Birmingham's New Alexandra Theatre in May 2015.
The stage show has been adapted from the hugely popular 1988 film of the same name starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine.
Glitzy dance routines in the new musical comedy
This version is another success for Tony award winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, who was also behind theatre shows Legally Blonde and Kinky Boots.
The story is set in the French Riviera where two conmen Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson come to blows. They battle it out to win the affections and money of millionairess Christine Colgate with plenty of escapades along the way.
With lavish, glamorous sets and big routines, this is a glitzy comedy. Audiences can see it in Birmingham from May 5 to May 16.
Director Jerry Mitchell said: "I am thrilled that Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, our very first show from Jerry Mitchell Productions, will be taking to the road in the UK. I have no doubt that every city we visit will take this hilarious show to their hearts and will laugh and enjoy this musical as much as a quarter of a million people who have already seen it so far have done".
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has attracted acclaim at London's Savoy Theatre, starring TV star Robert Lindsay and Bonnie Langford. The full cast for the Birmingham show has not yet been revealed.
