Expanding our visit to the area from our base in Exeter, a short drive to Dorchester in Dorset, provided many new things to see and do.

Museum entrance
The Dinosaur Museum is an interesting place to visit, though we hadn't done much research about it before visiting, we were pleasantly surprised at what we found.
The museum isn't huge I'd say roughly the size of a large three bedroom house, with stairs to the top part, so not pram or wheelchair accessible. A visit will probably take you less than an hour, so given the standard entry price, it's worth looking around for a discount voucher or getting the multi-museum pass that gives you entry to five of the local museums, which is what we did as it was good value.

Museum building
As it is located not far from the World Heritage site of the Jurassic Coast, which is a 96-mile stretch of coastline that runs from Exmouth in East Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset, it provides details of the dinosaurs that would once have roamed this area.
Throughout the museum, there are an array of different displays and lots of information to read all around you.
Kids can do a fun puzzle sheet that encourages them to look for clues in the information displays, and this gets them a dino hunters medal at the end.

Decorated window
There are several interactive displays for the kids, including an excavation pit, puzzles, feely box and I-pads games, along with an informative video that everyone can enjoy.
We all enjoyed our visit here, and we learned a bit more about the Jurassic history of the area.
The gift shop sells a good variety of dinosaur related merchandise.
