'Who knows what tomorrow brings?' asked English rock singer, Joe Cocker. Well The Design Museum might have a good idea, and pretty soon so could you, because between the 26th March - 25th August, they are hosting the Designs of the Year 2014 Awards. The exhibition showcases the 'cutting edge and original talent' from this year's nominees. The categories include Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Furniture, Graphic, Product, and Transport. Designs vary wildly from something as small as Kate Moss's favourite app to a large scale floating school on a Nigerian lagoon. The judges will pick one winner from each of the seven categories, and then an overall winner, which will be announced nearer the end of the exhibition.
Some designs are made to entertain, while others could have potential life changing benefits. Others - such as a calendar made of LEGO - are pure novelty. Some of my favourites are the Child Chemo House, where children undergoing therapy can live with their parents, and a Touch Board that turns any surface into a user interface.
