On February 15th 2018 Nuffield Southampton Theatres will celebrate the opening of their new City Studio with the world premiere of
The Shadow Factory , a story about wartime Southampton and the production of the Supermarine Spitfires after the city was devastated by German bombs. As part of the opening, NST City Studio will be hosting another event that celebrates the Spitfire. Presenter Dan Snow will be joined by historian Paul Beaver as they delve into the history of the Spitfire and it's connection to Southampton's past.

Dan Snow is a BBC presenter based locally in New Forest. Snow has presented numerous history shows on the BBC including
Battlefield Britain,
20th Century Battlefields,
Britain's Lost World and to name a few
Locomotion: Dan Snow's History of Railways . He has also published books and even released an app, all dealing with historical perspectives of various battles, places or people. In 2017 he launched
History Hit a digital history channel, which joins his already running podcast of the same name.
Paul Beaver is an aviation historian who doesn't just study planes, he flies them too. Beaver even has his own vintage aeroplane company, Monty's Messenger Ltd. His credentials as a Spitfire expert don't just come form his research, he's also flown one himself. Amongst his published books, Beaver is the author of
Spitfire People: The Men and Women who Made the Spitfire the Aviation Icon, so it's pretty safe to say he's a bit of an expert.

The Shadow Factory will be at NST City Studio from the 15th of February till the 3rd of March, and there will also be a free exhibition on during the day providing a behind the scenes look at the production.
