Classic crime is coming to a theatre near you with the latest in a series of true crime films to be screened at the Lichfield Garrick in March.

The 1968 American thriller, Targets, will be shown on March 2 in the Garrick's intimate studio theatre to add to the atmosphere.

Directed by Peter Bogdanovich, Targets follows an aged horror star who feels his low-budget movies pale in comparison with actual violence.

As he makes an appearance at a drive-in movie, he runs into a local man on a killing spree.

The film will be preceded by a short talk by Julian Upton, author of Fallen Stars and editor of Offbeat: British Cinema's Curiosities, Obscurities and Forgotten Gems.

The screening of Targets follows on from the success of the first in the series of Film Nights at Lichfield Garrick.

All the films in the series are loosely or directly based on notorious true crimes, starting with the classic horror movie Psycho, starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh, which was screened at the Garrick on February 3.

Other films in the crime series, which all start at 7pm, include: 10 Rillington Place, which will be shown on April 6, The Black Panther, screened on May 4, and Henry: Portrait of A Serial Killer, which can be seen on June 1.

Tickets for Targets, and the other films, cost £12, and can be booked online at www.lichfieldgarrick.com or by calling the Box Office on 01543 412121.
