If you like a lot of art on your biscuit join the Creekside club.
Creekside Artists is a co-operative established in 2000. They like to create a sociable and creative atmosphere by housing two artists in one unit, so that they can share ideas, and chat. Usually, they are based in Deptford, but currently, the studio is undergoing redevelopment.
The artists hope to return next year - hopefully to a non-leaky roof - but until then, they are bunking up at The Biscuit Factory in Bermondsey. It is a shame the factory isn't still running; wouldn't it be grand to have a conveyor belt of Hob Nobs delivered to you as you worked?
Creekside Artists hold three open days a year. This gives the artists a chance to promote their work, and gives the public a chance to view it. In some ways a studio open day is better than visiting a museum, because it is more intimate, and allows you to talk to the artist about the inspiration behind their ideas.
The next open day is between the 27th - 29th June. Many works will be available for sale, including hand-crafted jewellery and fashion from
KT New and
Esoteric London , plus original paintings, drawings, collages, and prints.
For £5, some of the artists will also be running jewellery making lessons, life-drawing classes, and a 3D imaging workshop in the run up to open studios (23rd-25th). June)'
Tickets should be booked in advance.
