Woefully low on guinea pig supplies, I made one of my regular trips to the Creature Company pet shop in Wimbledon. Located on The Broadway, the shop is open Mondays-Saturdays between 10am-5pm, and whether you need to buy a squeaky toy for man's best friend or a cage for your hamster, they cater for most pet owners.
My guinea pigs love their hay and oregano cubes, and also enjoy the green hidey-hole tube I bought from there. On this occasion, I needed to get some muesli and dry pellets. While they had the pellets in small packets, the big bags did not seem to be there. I often find this is the case as they do not seem very good at keeping it in stock. It might, on the other hand, be that the staff just don't keep tabs as to what is on the shelves, because when I asked, I found out that they had the big bags in the back room and just had not put it on display.
And the hamster in the wheel goes round and round...
Despite that little annoyance, I do love popping into the shop even when I have nothing to buy, because they always have the most adorable bunnies on sale for £40 (which I admit is not difficult as all bunnies are adorable). At the moment they have a velvety grey rex rabbit, and two lion-heads. They also sell guinea pigs for £29.99, fancy rats for £16.99, gerbils for £12.99, and mice and hamsters for £6.99.
If you are looking for something a bit different, they are always bringing a variety of less traditional pets. A few months ago they had a family of ferrets, and right now they have £80 chinchillas and a parrot. The most unusual I've seen were a pair of albino hedgehogs. They were very cute, but at over £100 each, it is no surprise that they did not sell.
Creature Company also have a 'Pet Hotel' for the times you are off and holiday and have no one to look after your furry friends. They do not take in cats or dogs, but will look after (and cuddle) rodents and most other small pets.
