Trinity United Reformed Church in Wimbledon hosts a spectacular fundraiser each year in the Christmas spirit of giving. Running over the 8th and 9th December 2018 weekend, from 10.30am to 7pm on Saturday and 12.30-4pm on Sunday, the Festival will end with a special service of Carols Among the Trees on Sunday at 4.30pm to which everyone is warmly invited, followed by seasonal refreshments.
This year's theme The Symbols of Christmas will shine even brighter and make a spectacular display throughout the building, as daylight begins to fade. A perfect family outing, bring your stocking filler shopping list, a whole lot of festive cheer, expect carols and of course a whole lot of twinkling. The Christmas Craft & Gift Fair will have a wide variety of handmade gifts for Christmas and other occasions, and refreshments (tea, coffee, soft drinks and cakes) will be available at certain times during the Festival. If you happen to be a stall holder and want to participate by having a stall, please contact Elizabeth Scharinger, Church Administrator on - firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
Theres still a few days left (by Sun 25 Nov) if you'd like to sponsor a poinsettia plant for display at the Christmas Tree Festival. The plant will be yours to take home after Carols Among the Trees on Sunday. Complete a card and return it to Elizabeth with your donation. If you'd like to dedicate the plant in memory of someone, write their name(s) on the card, and it'll be displayed beside the Poinsettia Tree in their memory.
Sponsorship is also sought for programmes, flyers, lighting and other decorations, refreshments etc. If you'd like to sponsor anything please email email@example.com or contact the Church Office, Trinity URC, Mansel Road, SW19 4AA (tel: 020 8946 9281). The generous support of sponsors play a vital role in the success of the Festival and fundraising for London's Air Ambulance. All donations are most gratefully received.
Trinity is a lively congregation of members from various church traditions (or none), many different nationalities and a diverse age group. They are the only United Reformed Church serving the London Borough of Merton. A Fairtrade church, they also take part in the United Reformed Church's Commitment for Life programme. For the last three years, this being the fourth Festival they have raised between £3000 and £4000, each year donating to various charities.
This year's recipient, London's Air Ambulance are London's only Air Ambulance operating 24/7. They've carried out over 1825 missions in 2016 and over 36,000 since they started in 1989. They are a world leader with a number of 'firsts' to their name and more. "On average, five people every 24 hours in London are so seriously injured that they need advanced life-saving medical treatment on scene, before they reach hospital. With your help our advanced trauma doctor and paramedic can be by their side within minutes to perform medical procedures normally only found in the hospital Emergency Department, giving them the best possible chance of survival and recovery."
