Cow & Co. Café
This European-inspired café is admittedly "off the beaten track", cosily nestled between a beauty salon and a dog groomers, behind the L1 car park on Cleveland Square. If I had to sum it up in five words or less, I would quite simply describe Cow & Co. Café as an "artisan deli for the artsy".
The intimate venue is home to some quality coffee, while tea fiends can order anything from loose leaf to Turkish Apple. Undeniably quaint, the menu hosts a very small selection of bagels, sandwiches, and freshly baked delights. Greasy-spoon lovers would be well advised to make themselves scarce, as bacon butties are nowhere to be seen here. Visitors are much more likely to be faced with the likes of herb and fennel flat breads, and giant meringues.
In addition to the surroundings, high-end design and fashion mags can be spotted for sale on entry, alongside everything from quirky ceramics, to on-trend tote bags.
Feel free to park up a stool along the cobbled streets outside, while sipping a Nutella latte for a reasonable £2.50 - but don't forget to wrap up if it's a little chilly - blankets are readily available by the door, adding to the homely yet bo-ho ambience.
As the café is tiny, you can expect a long wait during busy periods. However, service is more than accommodating; we were treated to a fresh chocolate brownie with white chocolate icing for our troubles!
The haunt is certainly avant-garde in its approach, and understandably so, as it is primarily a design store. Should you wish to rendezvous here after hours, their upstairs space is also available for hire. Check out [LINK=http://www.cowandcocafe.com/
