The countryside comes to town on the 27th & 28th September, with the arrival of Fulham Palace's Country Life Fair. There will be country style recreation, a cooking theatre, kids' zone, and gardens to explore.
Fulham Palace is a nineteenth century building that was once home to the Bishops of London. Its gardens are protected as an important historic landscape as it once enclosed England's longest moat. The moat used to cover thirty-six acres, but now it is only thirteen.
Over the weekend you can explore the gardens, be inspired by plants for your own garden, and attend expert talks, demonstrations, and Q&As for top tips. You will also find exhibitors providing goods for all your country pursuits, such as clay shooting or equestrian activities.
While you do that, the kids zone offers lots of entertainment for children, including ferret racing, corn doll making, falconry displays, dog shows, and a mobile farm.
Get a taste for the countryside at the Country Kitchen and Country Cellar, where there will be cooking demonstrations with chefs using a traditional Aga range, charcuterie sampling, gin tasting experiences, and the best English wines.
If all this has made you want to escape the city good and proper, you can talk to agents about finding your only little patch in the country.
Tickets start from £23, which includes one day entry, plus a free under 12s ticket. There are also other options like the Boodles Diamond ticket for £35, and the Palace ticket for £125.
