Stars join forces at variety show to raise funds for Ukraine
A special fundraising concert is to be held at a Staffordshire theatre in aid of the people of Ukraine who continue to suffer under the Russian invasion. The Lichfield Garrick is to host a family-friendly variety show on Sunday 15 May with proceeds to be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanity Appeal. A further beneficiary of the show will be Lichfield City of Sanctuary, which is a network of local community groups. The fundraising concert will be compèred by the Garrick theatre's long-standing pantomime dame, Sam Rabone. The home-grown legend will be joined by his previous panto co-star Ben Thornton, as well as one-time CBeebies presenters Katy Ashworth and Rebecca Keatley (also of Garrick panto fame!).

Other acts on the bill include viral TikTok sensation Stage Door Johnny, Lichfield's very own pantomime star Maria Conneely providing 'songs from the shows', house band Dancefloored, juggler Steve Arnold, cabaret performer Kiki Lovechild, the UK's number 1 Craig David tribute act, Kurtis Ray, as well as many more surprises on the night! Sam Rabone says: "It's a pleasure to be hosting and curating this night of fun for the whole family while trying to raise as much money as we can for a worthy cause. It's fabulous to have a night of variety on in Lichfield too. And a huge shout out to ALL the acts who are giving up their time to raise the money with us."

All proceeds from both ticket and bar sales will be donated to the Ukraine Humanity Appeal and Lichfield City of Sanctuary. The show starts at 5pm, but doors will be open from 4pm for people to enjoy some pre-show entertainment including live music from Rob Taylor and the Vegas Showgirls from the Royal Variety Show, plus close up magic from James Mitchell. Tickets cost £15 for adults and £10 for children, with additional donations also appreciated which can be made at the time of booking, or through the Garrick website. There will also be bucket collections and donation points around the venue on the day of the show.
