Amanda opened
Complement in November last year. She was working as a management consultant but persuasion from friends and family encouraged her to set up her own business, where she could supply unique and affordable accessories to ladies over about the age of 40. We both agreed with Mary Portas that women of a certain age are not very well catered for. We are far from over the hill and still want to dress well, but we don't want to frequent the same shops as our teenage daughters.

A Little Something to Pretty Up Your Hair
Amanda is also very aware of the current economic climate. (Aren't we all?) With this in mind she retails beautiful and unique jewellery and scarves that are just the job when we want to cheer ourselves up, but don't want to spend a fortune. A new lipstick doesn't always hit the spot, but a colourful scarf or a pretty necklace can make all the difference to an outfit that needs updating.

Scarves
Complement sells rings for less than £5 and the majority of the necklaces all carry a tag of £24.95, whilst a scarf can be bought for £10. You can browse at your leisure, or ask for advice. Amanda takes care of her customers, many of whom are regulars, and keeps them informed about new stock via email. She takes their recommendations and suggestions on board and offers special promotions such as loyalty cards and vouchers.

Necklaces
Complement is just the place to shop for gifts for men and women, as well as for that little treat for yourself to complement the clothes in your wardrobe.
