Common Ground is the final exhibition in Southampton City Art Gallery's
Recording the Region programme . Featuring photographs from forest and seascape photographer,
David Baker , Common Ground explores the well trodden space of
Southampton Common in the early hours of the morning before there are people. The exhibition will be held at the
Southampton City Art Gallery from
December 2nd 2017 till
April 7th 2018.
Southampton Common is the city's largest open space. Throughout the year it is used for events and countless recreational activities by the many people who call Southampton home. David Baker's photographs explore another side of the Common. He has captured it bereft of human life, sometimes eerie and sometimes peaceful, as it changes with the seasons.
David Baker is a photographer with a special focus on forests and the sea. He has published two photography books and has had exhibitions around the country. In 2012 he was named
Outdoor Photographer of the Year . You can find more of David's work on his website,
milouvision .
Common Ground is a free exhibition. The Southampton City Art Gallery is open from 10am-3pm Monday to Friday, 10am-5pm Saturday, 10am-3pm on Bank Holidays, and is closed on Sunday. Admission is free to the gallery and to all exhibitions. For more information about the gallery and about any other upcoming exhibitions,
