We all need a few laughs in our lives, so it is good news that a line-up of rib-tickling entertainment is coming to
Tamworth Assembly Rooms in Staffordshire over the next few months. The theatre has unveiled a number of fun-filled comedy shows that will hopefully leave audiences in stitches. The Assembly Rooms will start the fun and games with an adult-themed comedy show called
The Scummy Mummies show on March 3. The show, which is for people aged 18 and over, sees Helen and Ellie deliver an evening of adult humour and songs. Tickets cost £18.50 with the show beginning at 7.30pm. The adult theme continues on March 19 with a mature and fun-filled spin on the classic pantomime
Sleeping with Beauty. The production, presented by Liam Mellor and Hot Rock Productions, brings together a star-spangled list of names with Hollyoaks and Waterloo Road's Ben-Ryan Davies as the Prince, top UK comic Liam Mellor as Jangles, and Jimmy Burton-IIes as Queen Luscious Le-Coq. This show is suitable for people aged 16 and over, with tickets priced at £21.50.
The fun continues into the spring as historical characters leap onto the Tamworth Assembly Rooms stage on April 24 for
Horrible Histories – Terrible Tudors. The show combines history and humour as the audience travels back through time to see the horrible Henries and the end of Elizabeth as they listen to the tales of the torturing Tudors, and find out what happened to King Henry's headless wives. There are shows at 1.30pm and 4pm with adult tickets costing £15.50 and children and concessions at £13.50. The following month sees some of TV's funniest legends come together in one room to celebrate comedy from the past.
The Best of British TV Comedians combines stars such as Sue Hodge (
Allo 'Allo!), Jeffrey Holland (
Hi-De-Hi; You Rang M`Lord) and Sally Thomsett (
Man About The House, The Railway Children), with a surprise guest appearance at each performance. Members of the audiences can meet the cast after the show and have their photo taken with them. The show is scheduled for May 21 with tickets costing £22.
In addition to the shows, a comedy and curry night is coming to the Assembly Rooms on May 27 for the first time ever. The comedy line-up will be announced shortly. Adey Ramsel, Theatre, Artistic and Events Manager, said: "
We've got a lot of fantastic shows lined up for the Assembly Rooms this year and we're really happy to say that the schedule includes a loaded card of comedy events for the adults, kids and whole family to enjoy. We've managed to pick up some of the best comedians and the biggest shows for Tamworth so we're really excited to put on these shows for our community."
