After Beer And Bacon Comes Danish Comedy 'Export' Sofie
It is probably most famous for bacon and beer - or lager to be precise - but there is one other 'export' that Denmark should be equally proud of. It is none other than Danish comedienne Sofie Hagen who has been successfully introducing her own brand of humour across Europe and the UK.
Sofie Hagen to headline latest Comedy 42 night in Lichfield
Now Sofie, who was born in Copenhagen but is now based in London, is to headline the latest in a series of comedy nights at the Lichfield Garrick theatre in the Staffordshire cathedral city. Sophie is to feature in the Comedy 42 line-up which appears at the Garrick's studio theatre on June 17. The theatre's Comedy 42 series showcases some of the best comedians from across the country and around the world. It takes the number 42 from a line in the cult television series, A Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

Sofie is described as a multi-award winning stand-up comedian and comedy writer who has previously been seen on the John Bishop Show. She was the winner of the 2015 Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer, but has previously collected other awards including the Chortle Best Newcomer Award in 2014, as well as runner-up in the Leicester Square Comedian Of The Year 2012 and a finalist in the Piccadilly Comedy Club new act competition in the same year. Not bad for someone who only started out on the comedy circuit in 2010.

Critically-acclaimed comedian Michael J Dolan will open the show on June 17 before he is followed by Ian Bowden and Graham Wilkes. The show starts at 7.45pm. Tickets cost £15, and can be booked online or by calling the Box Office on 01543 412121.
