Colchester Zoo is definitely not just a great day out for children, but also for couples and friends. My partner and I visit at least once a year.

The summer holidays can get very busy, especially if it's a hot day, but due to the size of the Zoo, there is still room to walk about without bumping into others.

The size of the Zoo and the shows allow it to be a great fun filled day out.

The food cafes provided, do get very busy, and can be slightly overpriced, so it is greatly advised to take a packed lunch and choose one of the many cute spots to sit back and relax.

After visiting both London and Colchester Zoo, I would always choose to return to Colchester Zoo, it's bigger and better in my opinion.

The town and local train station are also a short car journey away, with plenty of shops and places to eat.
