Located on the twenty-third floor of the ever present Beetham Tower at the lower end of Deansgate, the cocktail and champagne bar oozes class, shouts sophistication and offers arguably the best views of Manchester from around two-hundred and seventy-one feet. It is up here in the clouds that afternoon tea or a wide variety of speciality cocktails can be enjoyed, with prices ranging from £7 a cocktail to £5.50 a pint it's well worth a visit - even to those students, like myself, who are attempting to budget on loans and often opt for bottles of ASDA's own £3 Pinot Grigio.
A long wait can be expected if you forget to pre-book, but if you remember, a celebrity-esque escort through to your very own elevator can be expected, with all members of your party queue jumping those waiting in line on the red carpet. Once ushered from the lift to your booth, menus are given and orders taken as service is table to table.
Although there is no set dress code, it would be a fashion disaster to go in anything less than semi-formal that would make even the most confident of people feel socially awkward. I'd recommend a nice shirt and a pair of brogues for men and a nice dress accompanied by some heels for the ladies. The dress code, as in all bars and restaurants, matches the ambiance - which in is nothing short of 'High Snobiety' in the nicest possible way.
Overall, is a fully recommendable place to visit for those one-off occasions and odd celebrations. It's not exactly a place to make your local, unless of course you've got money trees in your back garden. It's a well-rounded venue multiplied by a classy atmosphere and relatively priced food and drink.
