To paraphrase Dorothy: 'There is no place like London.' I hope I can convince you of that here. Also check out my blog at damselwithadulcimer.wordpress.com and my theatre reviews at www.playstosee.com

I was recently treated to a visit to the spa at the City Point Club for a birthday present. Sundays are sleepy days in the City of London, but the spa was pretty busy, if not bustling. It's located close to Moorgate underground station, and is accessed by a lift, one floor below ground level, and is a cocoon of tranquillity.
On checking in I was offered a complimentary soft drink and given a tour of the facilities before being taken to the women's changing rooms, which contain lockers, and are amply provided with showers and all necessary toiletries, including deodorants and razors, as well as hair dryers and straightening irons. There is also an iron and an ironing board should you wish to give your clothes a quick press after smartening yourself up at the end of your session. Robes, towels and slippers are all provided at this point and I assume men's facilities are somewhat similar.
The spa boasts a 20 foot swimming pool, a whirlpool and sun loungers.
In addition there is a dimly lit relaxation room that contains reclining massage chairs that are operated from their own control units. If you can manage to keep your eyes open in this environment, you could watch the exotic fish as they swim round in the aquarium on the wall facing you. Perhaps they will encourage you to take a plunge in the pool, where there are also floatation devices if you fancy a slightly less energetic soak.
Should you want some heat, there are male and female rooms, each containing a sauna and a steam room. This area also contains loungers for cooling off, if you're too much of a wimp to brave the icy cold plunge pool.
Now for the pampering: there are seven spa treatment rooms, one couples' room, two med spa treatment rooms and four wellness treatment rooms. My treats were a twenty-five minute body exfoliation, followed by a shower and an all over body moisture treatment, and a twenty-five minute deep moisturising facial.
