The wonderful and enchanting world of Cirque du Soleil is heading to Birmingham and Nottingham over the next few weeks as part of a brand-new UK arena tour. Cirque du Soleil is set to delight audiences in the Midlands with its production of OVO, which is a fun-filled celebration of nature and co-existence aimed at the whole family. Following on from its UK debut in London in January, where OVO officially became the highest selling Cirque du Soleil performance run to visit the city, the arena tour will continue with a visit to the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham from September 12 to 16, and then later heads to Birmingham between October 3 and 7 with a series of performances at Arena Birmingham . The UK tour finally concludes in Belfast in Northern Ireland on October 21.

OVO, meaning "egg" in Portuguese, is described as a headlong rush into a colourful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement. When a mysterious egg appears in their midst, the insects are awestruck and intensely curious about this iconic object that represents the enigma and cycles of their lives. It is love at first sight when a gawky, quirky insect arrives in this bustling community and a fabulous ladybug catches his eye – and the feeling is mutual. Cirque du Soleil& #8232 ;has brought wonder and delight to more than 160 million spectators in more than 400 cities on six continents around the world. The company has close to 4,000 employees, including 1,300 performing artists from nearly 50 different countries.

The cast of OVO is comprised of 50 performing artists from 17 countries specialising in numerous acrobatic acts. They include former British gymnast Alanna Baker who plays the role of the Black Spider in the show. She was crowned European Champion in 2011 and won the bronze medal in the World Championships the following year. Having thrilled more than five million people worldwide since the show premiered in Montreal in 2009 as a Big Top show, OVO offers the same captivating production as the original Big Top performances, but on a larger scale. Tickets for OVO can be obtained from the Cirque du Soleil website at www.cirquedusoleil.com/ovo or by visiting www.livenation.co.uk.
