Never discount your local library as a fun way to keep your children occupied and entertained during the term break. Now, usual library activities involve a bit of storytelling and sometimes a bit of interactive play, but Tadley Library have something a little bit different on offer in the February half-term holidays. Circus Skills is a fun workshop run by Circus Scene for kids over 6 years old to teach them some basic, but very fun, circus techniques.
The 75-minute workshop will cover different techniques like juggling, plate spinning, dancing sticks and Chinese spinning cloths. This is just a basic workshop, so there aren't going to be any high flying stunts or complex acrobatics, but it will be a bit of fun and something a little bit different. There will be traditional circus music to create a fun circus atmosphere as well as lots of colourful props.
Tickets for the Circus Skills workshop are £4 per child and can be purchased online from the Hantsweb Shop or by calling 01189 814602. Children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult, supervising adults will not be charged.
Circus Scene are a Berkshire based company who hold circus workshops at fetes, fairs, and community centres. They can also be hired to provide fun circus entertainment for events. Unfortunately, they don't offer long-term circus classes, but if your kids are interested in learning more about circus entertainment, there are some other places they can check out. Circus Allstars offer one-to-one tuition for anyone really serious about improving their circus techniques, and Aerial Southampton also have one-to-one tuition if you're interested in Cirque du Soleil aerial style performance.
The Tadley Library is located at 65 Mulfords Hill in Tadley. It's almost 40 miles outside of Southampton, and about a 45 minute drive. If you're interested in finding out what events are on at your local library, you can search Hampshire Libraries and Southampton Libraries to find what is on at one nearest to you.
