Christmas at the Castle returns to Warwick, on the outskirts of Birmingham packed with family festive fun. This year's light trail even includes a special section in memory of Queen Elizabeth II.

Warwick Castle's Christmas spectacular set in and around the historic stunning landmark includes an ice skating rink, festive market, light trail and 'Stories with Santa'. It's only around 45 minutes away from much of Birmingham and runs until January 2.

Santa is inside the age-old castle amongst shining suits of armour and grand rooms dressed up for Christmas. The jaw-dropping Great Hall even has a 20ft Christmas tree. It's one of the most unusual ways to see Father Christmas in 2022.

Light trail

A glorious light trail takes about an hour to saunter around and follows a different route this year. It starts at the outside terrace and conservatory, winding its way through displays on the grounds, on the lake and concluding after a dazzling projection onto the castle walls.

One area is particularly poignant as it features an illumination of the Queen's head and is accompanied by her speech on the loudspeaker.

Music is key to the light trail with choral music and festive songs making the journey a delight. There's illuminated stars, a medieval camp, light tunnels and trees glowing in a range of colours.

Midway, there is also a large screen to watch a specially made film under the canape of a rainbow feature.

A big finale projects shapes onto the castle walls before taking visitors through a tunnel of multicoloured bulbs for an ideal selfie moment.

Combining into a magical winter wonderland for all ages, there's also a Christmas market selling food and drink near the ice skating rink.

Probably the most beautiful ice skating scene in the Midlands, the outdoor rink is in the shadow of the beautiful Castle's east front and Guy's Tower.

Youngest of skaters can get 'penguins' to help them skate around the ice. . A 45-minute ice skating slot on the open-air ice rink costs from £15.50.
Stories With Santa

Head inside the Castle to see Santa but also the staterooms dressed up for Christmas with gorgeous trees and displays.

There's even Santa's Elves to guide children through an interactive workshop before they settle down in the memorable castle library for a story of yuletide hope and joy with Santa and Mrs Claus.

The building looks sensational with festive decorations that can also be seen during the daytime with a castle ticket.
