The Lichfield Garrick theatre in Staffordshire is once again partnering with 'old friends' - namely the New Old Friends theatre company - for another festive farce this Christmas season. The Garrick will be staging the new play, Christmas Present & Correct, in its studio theatre from 6 December right through until 5 January next year. New Old Friends have been regular visitors to Lichfield since their first show, Crimes Against Christmas, was performed back in 2016.

In Christmas Present & Correct, New Old Friends look to maintain their run of seasonal favourites with yet another hilarious Christmas farce, in which the cast once again plays multiple roles on stage. The new story sees Herbert Richards play all the roles in The Cavalry, the hit radio show his sister, Dorothy, writes. But when someone from their US network makes an unprecedented appearance at their studio during the recording of the Christmas special, Herbert freaks out because he claims a fraudulent salary as each ‘actor’ which could ruin the siblings’ career.



Lichfield audiences Expect all the joyful New Old Friends motifs – witty wordplay, theatrical set-pieces and, of course, small-cast, multiple-role mayhem. It stars four actors, with three making a quick return after starring in last year’s festive show, A Christmas Getaway. Kirsty Cox, Rosie Coles and Stuart Tavendale are joined this time around by Mark Collier. However, Mark is no stranger to New Old Friends, having had a very silly time in their productions of Swiss Family Robinson and Crimes, Camera, Action.

Kirsty has worked with numerous theatre companies over the years apart from New Old Friends, including Tilted Wig Productions, Bristol Old Vic, Prime Theatre/Bolton Octagon, Kilter Theatre and Blue Brook Productions with whom she toured the one-woman show, Stalin’s Daughter. Rosie will be performing at the Garrick over Christmas for the third time, including last year's A Christmas Getaway. Lastly, Stuart has been visiting the Garrick the longest with his first visit being in 2018 for Elf & Reindeer’s Christmas Cracker. Most recently he appeared in a national tour of The Hound of the Baskervilles as Dr Watson and as George Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life.



Feargus Wood Dunlop, co-founder of New Old Friends and the show’s producer, says: “We are utterly thrilled to be back at Lichfield with another slice of festive nonsense. We love the Garrick; they offered us our first Christmas show back in 2016, which gave birth to the ‘Crimes…’ series. We are so excited about this particular show because it blends our love of radio plays with our established style of multi-role madness but with a little tweak. This farce plays out with four actors playing just four characters, unheard of for us. But, of course, those characters play many other characters and pretend to be things they are not, so don’t worry, it’s all still as farcical as usual and we guarantee you a good, solid, evening’s entertainment (or afternoon if you come to a matinee).”
