There'll be mulled wine so it really shouldn't be missed
The Southbank's German-style Christmas market returns in November for another month of festive fun.
While there are a few Christmas markets taking place in the capital this year, it's the Southbank market's location along one of world's most famous rivers, together with the pretty night-time illuminations, that go towards making this one particularly special.
This year it opens for business on Friday 16th November, running right through to Monday 24th December, so there'll be plenty of opportunities to visit – you never know, you might even end up going more than once.
Featuring as many as 60 wooden chalets selling festive food and drink (think sausages, mince pies and mulled wine) as well as a huge range of festive gifts made by local artisans, the market is the perfect way to get yourself in the Christmas mood.
Enjoy a visit with friends or family, or simply go along by yourself to get some of that all-important Christmas shopping done.
If the set-up is anything like previous years, you'll find a merry-go-round at the market, providing some fun entertainment for any kids in tow. Santa's Secret Village may also be making a return, another favourite of visiting children.
You'll find the market located along The Queen's Walk between the Southbank Centre and the London Eye. If you work in the area, you could pop along in your lunch hour, or drop by after work.
Be sure to wrap up if you head over to the market in the evening, it can get pretty chilly down by the river when the sun goes down. Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 11am to 10pm; Saturdays and Sundays, 10am to 10pm.
