New Guide Lists All The Festive Fun To Be Had In Lichfield
There is absolutely no excuse for not getting festive in Lichfield this Christmas. For people living in the historic cathedral city, and the wider Lichfield district beyond, will be able to plan their Christmas jollities with the help of a new guide that lists all the festive fun that will be going on across Lichfield this yuletide. Lichfield District Council's tourism service, Visit Lichfield, has teamed up with Lichfield Business Improvement District to produce the aptly named 'Get Festive in Lichfield City and District this Christmas' guide, which brings together a month of events and activities for all the family.
Aileen Beesley, Coun Helen Fisher and David Tomalin launch the festive guide
From traditional carol services to a Santa fun run, there is plenty on offer to keep people of all ages entertained in the run up to Christmas. A major highlight of the calendar promises to be two Christmas Festival Weekends which will be taking place in Lichfield city centre on December 3 & 4 and December 10 and 11. The weekend events are set to feature a range of markets packed with beautiful gifts and artisan food and drink, as well as events such as The Johnson Family Christmas and Erasmus Darwin's 285th Birthday Celebrations.
Festive light shows will be displayed at Lichfield Cathedral
The booklet also lists Lichfield Cathedral and Lichfield BID's much anticipated new light shows, The Angels are Coming, as well as the cathedral's lantern parade and Christmas Tree Festival. Meanwhile, the Lichfield Garrick theatre will also be getting in on the festive fun with its pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, the children's show, Dear Santa, and the 'anti pantomime' known as Crimes Against Christmas. And outside of the city itself, there will be various fun events for all the family, such as the Christmas Festival in Burntwood on Saturday 3 December, which includes free Santa gifts, face painting, and fun fair rides.
40,000 copies of the festive guide have been produced
Councillor Helen Fisher, Cabinet Member for Tourism & Communications, said: "The run up to Christmas is always such a busy time and this brochure is the perfect way to plan in a month of festive activities. On top of events taking place right across the district, you can also find out how to nominate a local retailer who has given you fantastic customer service and the Twelve Days of Christmas promotion, which offers shoppers free treats." David Tomalin, Lichfield BID Manager, added: "We're delighted to support this lovely brochure, which is a useful guide to all the fabulous festive events taking place in Lichfield and beyond this Christmas."
Around 40,000 brochures have been sent to local homes and copies are also available from Tourist Information at St Mary's in the Market Square. For the full listing, you can also go to www.visitlichfield.co.uk/christmasfestival
