Marwell Wildlife Zoo in Winchester, Hampshire is an excellent place to visit if you want to see rare and exotic animals. They have snow leopards living in their rocky Himalayan habitat, wallabies in the Australian Bush Walk, and some cold-blooded chameleons in the Encounter Village.
At the moment, however, you are probably most interested in meeting Pickle the penguin at Penguin Cove, and enjoying other Christmassy things. Mrs. Claus will be happy to have you. When you arrive, she treat you to some mulled wine or hot black current juice. And while your feasting on her homemade mince pies, she'll take you to the parlour and tell you a story.
You can also join the elves in their toy factory, and if they have finished putting Pinocchio together then you'll see him in a puppet show.
After that, the elves will help you decorate cookies in the kitchen before meeting Santa in his grotto. All children under 14 will get a gift. He and the Mrs will be at Marwell until 24th December.
Tickets are £21.50 for adults, £10.50 for children, and £5 for babies. There are also discount days on the 7th, 14th, and 17th-21st.
