Personalise Christmas this year by making your own baubles
Christmas is pretty special for so many different reasons. But how much more special, and nice, it would be if you were able to add to the overall festive atmosphere by making your own Christmas decorations for your home. People living in the Staffordshire region are being invited to learn how to make Christmas decorations during seasonal workshops at Beacon Park in Lichfield.
Learn how to make Christmas decorations at Beacon Park
Three Christmas decoration workshops, which are targeted at adults only, will be taking place at Beacon Park on Sunday 19th November. The workshops will all be held within the park's Discovery Hub building, with the various sessions starting at 10am, 12noon and 2pm respectively. The workshops, each of which last two hours, have been organised by Lichfield District Council who hope to encourage people that handmade Christmas decorations add a personal feel to a festive home and can also make great presents.
Enrol for the sessions at the park's Discovery Hub
The workshops will involve participants learning how to make three different types of decorations. Over the course of each session they will be shown how to make a natural willow frame decoration, an ornate Christmas card and beautiful paper baubles. Ruth Piddington, Community and Education Officer for Lichfield District Council, said: "The sessions offer a relaxed setting to learn some Christmas craft skills. You don't need any experience to have a go as we'll guide you through how to make these simple but effective Christmas decorations. We still have spaces available on all three of the workshops so it's not too late to book your place."
Plenty to see and do at Beacon Park
Beacon Park, which dates back to the late 1800s, is set in more than 70 acres of beautiful formal gardens and open space. Together with Lichfield's Minster Pool and Walk, and the Garden of Remembrance, Beacon Park underwent extensive renovation work during 2010 and 2011 thanks to a multi-million pound grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund. The project, led by Lichfield District Council and Lichfield City Council, helped to restore many of the historic features, as well as develop new facilities. The park now offers a range of attractions from beautiful walks and a children's play area to boat rides and an 18-hole par-3 golf course. Car parking is also available.
Admire the floral displays or play golf, tennis or football
The two-hour Christmas decoration workshop on November 19 costs £5. To book your place on one of the workshops, please call Beacon Park on 01543 308869 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. For upcoming events and activities at Beacon Park, visit www.lichfieldhistoricparks.co.uk/whats-on
