Get creative and make your own festive card this Christmas
We may all be living in a hi-tech digital world filled with smartphones, tablets and home information services. But there is one traditional 'thing' that should not be replaced with technology, especially at this festive time of year. Although people are now able to send electronic greetings cards, there is still nothing better than opening an actual Christmas card from family or friends. And people living in the Lichfield area of Staffordshire are now able to make their own Christmas card to send to a special someone this year. Beacon Park in the centre of Lichfield is running a Christmas card workshop on Saturday 16 November between 10am and 3pm.
Ruth Piddington encourages people to attend Christmas card workshop
The drop-in workshop will take place in the park's Discovery Hub, and all ages and abilities are welcome to attend and take part. All the materials needed to make the cards will be provided as well as a series of possible designs to create a festive card to give to someone this Christmas. It costs £1 per card and all children must be accompanied by an adult. There is no need to book in advance. Ruth Piddington, Community & Education Officer for Lichfield District Council, said: "Receiving a handmade Christmas card is extra special, so this workshop is a great chance to make your very own design. There will be lots of materials and ideas to make sure your Christmas card is as festive as can be. We hope plenty of people of all ages visit Beacon Park and pop into the Discovery Hub to enjoy this crafty workshop."
