Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is the home to a 25 acre working Steam Museum that contains a huge collection of locomotives, rolling stock and railway memorabilia. The original 1890s station has been restored and there is also a visitor centre and gift shop. In addition you can view a Royal Dining Coach that dates back to 1901 as well as a coach used during World War 2 when Winston Churchill had secret talks with Dwight D Eisenhower.
You don't have to be a railway buff or historian to visit the Railway Centre. If you're just a child wanting to see Father Christmas, he will also be on hand for you during December. Over the first two weekends in December, you can enjoy a
Day out with Thomas and Santa and the following two weekends will see the Centre celebrating Santa's Magical Adventure. Thomas will be pulling Santa's steam train and the admission price will include refreshments, magic shows, a Thomas DVD Theatre, storytelling and arts and crafts. And of course Father Christmas will be joining you on the train, where he will give you your present. Do you think he enters through a carriage door, like you and me, or does he come down the chimney?
If you're too busy to get there before Christmas, you can always take a trip on a Mince Pie Special on Thursday, 27 or Friday, 28 December.
