To paraphrase Dorothy: 'There is no place like London.' I hope I can convince you of that here. Also check out my blog at damselwithadulcimer.wordpress.com and my theatre reviews at www.playstosee.com
The Chocolate Festival will be returning to the South Bank Centre for the seventh time next weekend (9-11 December). Don't even think about going on diet and abandoning chocolate at this time of the year. The weekend promises samples of chocolates, chocolate dishes and drinks, chocolate classes and chocolate tasting sessions. Scientific trials have shown that chocolate may reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels, as well as reducing the risk of cardiovascular problems and boosting cognitive abilities, so it's not such an evil food after all.
You will be able to book for cookery demonstrations and tutored tasting sessions and meet bakers, pastry chefs and master chocolatiers. Most of us love (or are even addicted to) chocolate, so what better excuse do you need for some chocoholic indulgence? Go along, enjoy yourself, taste and learn and possibly even buy chocolate Christmas presents for your loved ones. If you can't manage this weekend, the festival will be travelling to Brighton and Oxford next March, so you could save your choccy treats for Easter instead. Or you could even be greedy and go to two, or all three, festivals.
