I've visited Chiquito in a few different areas, both in Edinburgh and much further south and it is always a great experience - and if you love Mexican food even half as much as I do, then you'll love this place too.

On their page they write: 'Here at Chiquito we're passionate about food! Our dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients, packed full of flavour to really tantalise your taste buds. Whether you're looking for a tempting treat, a light bite or the main event, Chiquito is the place to be!'. This to me really sums the place perfectly- it's fresh, authentic and really full of flavour.

My boyfriend and I stopped by for a dinner date, and it was a really great choice. though this was definitely helped by our mutual love of Mexican food, and all things like it.



For starters, we decided to share a bowl of nachos - full to the top with all the guacamole, salsa and cheese you could ever want. They were a perfect start to our meal - but be warned - they are quite spicy, though that's quite a common feature of most menu items, so if you're not keen on hot food, it may be wise to carefully look over your menu choices.

In addition to being a restaurant, there is also a bar - so it is a great place to stop by if that's all you're wanting. However it also means any drinks you order at the restaurant come straight from the bar, so I would really recommend grabbing a cocktail with your meal as they really are good. In true Mexican style, we ordered a mojito and a bottle of Desperados.



For our mains, we went for Quesadillas and Enchiladas, which are served beautifully but much like the starter - really pack a punch. Although if you're used to spicy food, this really won't be a problem for you. They have a whole selection of Mexican choices- from tortillas to wraps and even the odd burger or two, so you won't be disappointed with the variety here.

Pros: Authentic Mexican food, Great flavour
Cons: Not near the central area
