This Mexican restaurant and bar is a favourite of mine, especially at lunch time. Good quality affordable food and friendly staff usually make the experience enjoyable.

I have tried more than one of the Chiquito chains (Southampton, Portsmouth etc.) and each of them have been successful in delivering high standards for low prices.

As expected, the food wasn't perfect, but what more can you expect for a price of £9.99 for three courses. Yes - three courses.

On arrival, I was greeted with a complimentary dish of tortilla chips with a salsa dip, which sets a decent first impression.

I would like to give my personal choice from the set menu:

Starter - Aztec Soup -For anyone who likes some spice, this gets the taste buds going nicely. Admittedly my soup was slightly cooler than I would have liked.

Main - Chimichanga filled with spicy chicken - a beautiful crisp outside complimented with a spicy chicken filling.

Dessert - Banana Taquito- A banana split with style, a hint of cinnamon, toffee and chocolate fudge sauce.

I would highly recommend Chiquito to anyone who isn't sure what to do with their lunch break, or when considering somewhere to catch up with friends over lunch.

However, don't expect a five star Michelin restaurant.
