Chicago is known for many things - their sports teams the Bulls (who the legendary Michael Jordan played for), the Bears (the American football team), it was also the birthplace of House music. Then there is the food, with ribs possibly topping the list of things you really need to try - and guess what, you don't need to travel all the way over to the windy city to do it...
You can actually head over to Clapham - where in one of the train arches you will find a restaurant bringing the finest smoked food to the plates of the South London population from breakfast through to dinner.
Breakfast begins with a wide variety of options, everything from porridge to a full English breakfast, there are even a range of breakfast cocktails should you be planning a really lazy weekend day. Lunch and dinner brings out the main menu, which has an amazing array of goodies to choose from - there are burgers in buns, mac and cheese, and of course many, many ribs to have a go at - though have a look around the menu at some of the unusual delights to be found there - as the jalapeno peppers stuffed with cheese would be top of my list to have a try.
Desserts bring the whole thing to a close, but make sure you have space for a delicious cocktail or two. Also, check out the website before you go, as many events and offers can be found there - a dj playing on Saturday night for example, and Happy Hours galore on weeknights.
What better way to get the taste of Chicago without needing your passport, or indeed a flight ticket.
