Lizzie stood gazing outside her favourite designer clothing shop. She knew it was her favourite even though she had never been inside. The gorgeous outfits in the window told her everything. She desperately wanted to try them on, but daren't step through the doorway. She felt like an impostor. She couldn't afford scarf, let alone a dress. The nearest Lizzie had come to designer clothing was at the department store; she'd browse the racks, feel the quality fabrics, take one look at the price tag, and walk away.
Have you ever felt like Lizzie? Designer clothing may be on the top of a lot of fashion fanatics' wish lists, but also out of their budget. That's why, twenty-five years ago, artist, Elaine Foster-Gandey, founded
Designer Sales UK. The pop-up shop gives the general public a chance to get some bargain deals on top name brands such as Chloe, Blank London, Equipment, Moschino, Armani, and Calvin Klein.
The next sample sale will be held at Chelsea Old Town Hall on the 3rd & 4th October, and will be focussing on Elaine's favourite fashion season: Winter.
On show you will find menswear labels such as
Jenny Schwarz and
Religion. Womenswear will include
Nicole Farhi and
Paper London. You will also discover lots of accessories like
Vivienne Westwood jewellery,
Valentino shoes, and
Christian Lacroix handbags.
Standard entry is from 12pm - 6pm on Friday and 10am - 5pm on Saturday. Admission costs £2 or £1 concessions at the door. Alternatively, if you fancy pampering yourself a bit, you can pre-order Friday VIP tickets for £20. As a VIP you will get entry one hour early at 11am along with complimentary class of bubbles. Not only will you be able to browse at leisure before the crowds descend, but also get your own personal stylist, who will assist you with your purchases. On top of that you will receive a goody bag worth £75 and a £10 gift voucher if you spend over £100.
As well as the fashion, you will also be able to view a number of Elaine's paintings, which were exhibited at the RA earlier this year and picked out by Tracey Emin on the BBC Arts programme as being one of her favourites. These will be alongside some recent paintings to be shown in London for the first time.
