An Alternative to the Flower Show

Not able to make it to the Chelsea Flower Show? The Chelsea Fringe Festival is your affordable alternative. It may lack the 'Royal' title and seal of approval, but has all the fun, and at a much lower cost. How much, do you ask? There are numerous ticket events ranging from 5-42, but also many free activities as well.

So when is it? Well it lasts a whole lot longer than the Chelsea Flower show too, running from the 17th May - 8th June. And where can you find it? Everywhere. Well almost. The festival doesn't just take place in Chelsea, nor does it just take place in London. There are events all over the country. There are even events in Vienna.

But why travel all the way to Vienna, when you can have fun right on your doorstep? One of the events to look forward to is 'an evening of cosy catastrophe and horticultural horror' at the Seven Dials Club on 21st May. The Night of the Triffids is 6.25, and features a discussion of astronbotonay, and how to build your of garden Triffid.

Free events include a Vauxhall pop-up nursery, Making Meadows walking tour at Strawberry Hill, and Project Deep Freeze, which experiments with unusual and imaginative ice cream flavours.
