Enjoy A Staffordshire Beauty Spot From The Saddle
If you have been inspired by Chris Froome's title-winning exploits in this year's Tour de France, then why not try a more gentler cycle ride in a delightful Staffordshire beauty spot. Instead of the seemingly countless hundreds of miles that make up the Tour de France, as well as navigating the Alps, cyclists in Staffordshire are being urged to get on their bike for a six-mile taster ride to Chasewater Country Park in Brownhills, Walsall.
Bike riders are encouraged to join up for the Chasewater Cycle Ride
The free cycle ride will see participants pedal from Burntwood Leisure Centre to Chasewater Country Park on Sunday 31 July 2016. The event forms part of the series of Cycle Rides for All which have been taking place throughout the Spring and Summer in an effort to get people into the saddle. All the rides are graded from one to five for difficulty, with five being the most challenging. The Chasewater Country Park ride has been graded a level 2, which means it is ideal and suitable for most cyclists.
Debby Whiting, from joint organisers Freedom Cycles, said: "We hope plenty of people will join us for our cycle ride setting off from Burntwood. We do a quick safety check of all the bikes before we go to make sure they are roadworthy. We also recommend that safety helmets are worn and that you bring a packed lunch and a drink, although we do have a café stop on most rides." Anyone who wants to join July 31's cycle ride should turn up with their bikes at Burntwood Leisure Centre on Sunday 31 July at 11am. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
It's also an opportunity to get your bikes checked over
