'Another Charity Shop?'
'Do we even have room for another Charity Shop in Skipton?'
'They just don't encourage tourists.'

All words that are uttered in disgust at the many charity shops that are dotted around Skipton's streets. Is this not unfair though? Charity Shops are no where near as negative as the words said about them.

Aside from the fact that charity shops are a retail establishment with the aim of fundraising for their operative charity, there are still more pros than perhaps realized for these frowned up shops of Skipton.

It may take some looking around and rifling through the shelves but eventually treasures can be discovered. Perhaps you're a bit of a book worm but over the past ten years the classics have been steadily disappearing, to be replaced by stories of perhaps tedious topics? Have you considered checking the shelves of perhaps 'Oxfam'? With second hand books in good condition and at prices almost as good as free it's worth the ten minutes rummaging for that classic your collection is missing.

Or perhaps you like to collect ornaments? Of any name or maybe just a theme? Then checking the shelves of each charity shop could be worthwhile.

Take a look at the recent fashions, blazers, denim jackets, leather look and collared shirts. Doesn't all this ring a bell about the past fashions? Then surely charity shops are the best place to hunt out cheaper versions of the current fashions. Don't let the term 'second-hand' put you off, only clean and top condition clothes are in stock. Anyway who has to know the fashion you're wearing is second-hand and from a charity shop; after all it's a find that no one else will have. Topping off your fashion.

Maybe next time you need a new read, fancy adding to your ornament collection or want to wow everyone with your extreme vintage style try searching Skipton's Charity shops.

Skipton's Charity shops include 'Age Concerned', 'Greyhound', ' Oxfam ', ' House Charity Shops/skiptonshop St Martins House ', 'Cancer Research', 'Scope', 'Sense', 'British Heart Foundation' and 'Help the Aged'.

Skipton's charity shops are located on 'Otley Road', 'Keighley Road' and around the 'High Street' region.
