Charity Art Exhibition at Moments Cafe

A Birmingham hospice will raise funds with an art exhibition at its city centre cafe of December 18, 2015.

The display of work by local artists, on the theme of 'water' will be at Moments Cafe, Holloway Circus, run by Erdington-based John Taylor Hospice.



It will be the first of four 'elements' exhibitions to be hosted by the hospice; three more on the themes of earth, wind and fire will follow in 2016.

Interim head of community investment, Marcus Cox, said: "We're lucky to have several Birmingham artists exhibiting some of their best paintings, so anyone looking to own an original and inspirational piece is sure to pick up a great work of art. "That it's been painted by a local artist supporting their local hospice makes each purchase all the more special."



The recently opened Moments Cafe is the first business venture for John Taylor Hospice, whose motto 'Every Moment Matters' was the source of inspiration for the name.

Senior barista Bryan Paice said the idea for Moments came from the great response from patients and families to the food offered at the hospice."Our chef team always makes every meal matter with delicious food that is 'Taylor-made' and good for you," he said. "People already love our food so we decided that opening a café would be a great way of sharing that.''



All the proceeds from Moments Cafe, which opens between 7am and 2.30pm, Monday to Friday, will fund specialist care for the families who visit John Taylor Hospice every year.

John Taylor Hospice provides expert palliative care and practical support across Birmingham, Solihull and the West Midlands. "Our staff and volunteers are passionate about making sure every moment matters for hundreds of Birmingham families every year," said Marcus Cox. "It costs £14,000 to run all of our services each day – that's £585 each hour. Every penny we raise makes a difference. "For every £1 that is spent at the exhibition, 75p will go directly to the artists and 25p will be donated to John Taylor Hospice."

The exhibition takes place from 6.30pm to 9pm on December 18. Entry is free and there will be refreshments and live music all evening.
