I was strolling past Oxford Road towards the city centre, the Palace Theatre, Sainsbury's, and the same monotonous, unexciting surroundings when what ho! my eye was caught by the fuchsia décor of this new funky food bar. I ventured in and my nostrils were awakened by the very familiar, meaty, spicy Mexican food that you expect from a burrito bar.

Although the food looked delicious, I had just eaten and so didn't order anything, but the decor was enough to catch my attention. Cool Nacho Libre style funky decor that would brighten up any rainy afternoon in Manchester. It shows a different side of what you'd expect a Mexican bar and restaurant to look like; no sombreros, no Kahlua, no miniature cacti or illustrations of a desert. It says young, cool and refreshing.

The food was reasonably priced and I'd say student friendly -10% off the total bill and free Wifi. Perfect if you're hungry just before a lecture, they do takeaway if you're in a rush and it's a five minute walk away from Manchester Universities on Oxford Road.

The staff seemed friendly and normal, unfortunately neither were Mexican and they don't serve horchata, a Mexican drink that consists of rice milk and cinnamon, perfect to counteract the chilli in their dishes. Thus, they lose kudos for lack of authenticity, but what they lack in culture, they more than make up for in friendliness. If you want to go carb free, scrap the burrito, tortilla and have just meat and veg, caveman style.
