1) Have a movie marathon

What better way to spook oneself out than a night in with some of the silver screen's classic horror films? Friday the 13th, Scream and Paranormal Activity are all good choices. Make sure you have plenty of popcorn on hand and someone to cuddle with once the lights are out.

2) Hold a midnight sťance in a cemetery

Not for the faint-hearted, partakers may even invest in a makeshift ouija board in order to commune with the dead. I remember playing around with one of these when I was younger, until my mother told me a story about when she was a child and she summoned my grandmother's ex-boyfriend on a ouiji board. That put a stop to that game. There are plenty of beautiful old cemeteries around London to explore. Say hi to MJ for me if you reach him. See www.londoncemeteries.co.uk for ideas.

3) Host a horror party

You could either go all out and make it a costume gig, or simply invite a handful of friends over and request that each person share a ghost story. Coming from a kooky family, some of my best memories of growing up were sitting in complete darkness during blackouts, listening to the older generation discuss spiritual sightings.
