The Pig, the 12th animal in the zodiac cycle, is described as enthusiastic, exuberant, and full of good fortune and a love of life. A great way to honour the 2019 Pig is to celebrate Chinese New Year with a series of fun activities at Nottingham's 4th annual Chinese New Year Temple Fair event .

This is a free event for the whole family taking place in Market Square, 2nd February, from 10.30am-5.30pm. Activities on offer include storytelling, music, the famous Chinese Dragon Dance, a large selection of foods, and a chance to try out calligraphy, brush painting, and paper cutting.

With the University of Nottingham's close relationship with China, via its campus in Ningbo, and support from Chinese cultural institutions and student associations , the city is known for putting on quality Chinese New Year events. In addition to this Temple Fair event in Market Square, the University is hosting a Chinese New Year Gala , and other events will be taking place across the region in early February.
