There's so much happening in London at the best of times, but in December, in the run up to Christmas, the choice of events can be overwhelming.
However, if you're looking for
one single event to set you in the Christmas mood, to really give you that festive feeling, then consider
Carols by Candlelight at the Royal Albert Hall.
Having attended the performance several years ago, I'm more than happy to give it my personal endorsement. The Mozart Festival Orchestra (in full period costume), together with singers from the Mozart Festival Chorus, combine wonderfully for a memorable evening of Christmas carols and seasonal classics.
All the familiar favourites will be performed for your pleasure, including The First Nowell, Good King Wenceslas, O Come All Ye Faithful, Once In Royal David's City, and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.
Carols by Candlelight takes place on the evenings of the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of December, with tickets costing between £12.50 and £50.
The £12.50 seats are located high up in the Circle, with prices increasing the closer you get to the performers. However, although sitting in the Choir section – located
behind the musicians and singers – may seem like an odd idea, you're actually positioned really close to the action and have a fantastic view of what must be one of London's most spectacular venues. What's more, tickets for this section only cost £16.50. It's worth considering.
As you can imagine, this event has a tendency to sell out fast, so if you are interested, you'd better get your skates on and sort out some tickets pronto!
