New West Midlands theatre company NeuNoir debut this Halloween with - a telling of the Edwardian supernatural adventure by author WH Hodgson.
With actor, broadcaster and voice-over artist Richard Usher, the night can be described as 'an adult Jackanory' or 'an audiobook, live' - depending on your age.
- The Horse Of The Invisible was written in the early part of the 20th century and is one of several stories featuring Thomas Carnacki - a supernatural detective whose adventures have influenced such writers as Dennis Wheatley and comic book scribe Alan Moore (who included Carnacki in
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen).
The chilling story finds Carnacki invited to a remote stately home to investigate a long family curse involving a monstrous spectral horse who haunts the daughter.
Can Carnacki solve the case and free the family? Are magical sources really the cause? Or is it something more sinister?
Carnacki, The Ghost Hunter is the first production from NeuNoir. Richard Ushers' credits include Sweet Cherry Publishing's Sherlock Holmes audiobooks.
For fans of Sherlock Holmes, Edwardian and Victorian ghost stories, audiobooks, horror, fantasy, and early 20th century English literature.
Carnacki, The Ghost Hunter is at Stourbridge Town Hall on Friday 29 October 2021. Tickets available now for £10 via
boroughhalls.co.uk
The reading forms part of a Halloween Weekend which also includes screens of The Exorcist (Oct 29), and Casper (Oct 30) and Beetlejuice (Oct 30).
