Young and coffee in varying degrees, Kat also says stuff @ThoroughlyMode
Published August 26th 2010
Canela is a useful to place to know about at any time of day. They're a sort of hybrid cafe/ bar/ restaurant, in that the food is better than most cafes, but at reasonable prices, and you can have a more than decent coffee, or something alcoholic if it's late enough in the day for you.

Not sure if it's the Brazilian/ Portuguese fusion food that's responsible for the open ended vibe of the place? - the benches are square and painted black, but they have a gorgeous gilt mirror and a chandelier, so that's not much help - but whether it is or not the limited menu stays the same all day as well. Expect items to include chorizo, black feij„o beans and salted cod. With cheese bread on the side and moist carrot or banana cake, or Portuguese custard tart to finish. The vegetable lasagne is really something.

You should also expect a cinnamon stick served on the side of your coffee to use to stir it with, classic caipirinhas and a strange cola with guarana.
