Just around the corner, and around the corner again is a place you probably don't know about, but I really think you should.
This place is Candid Cafe, and it is one of the best cafes in London in my opinion. It is part of the Candid Arts Centre, which is a multi-discipline arts centre incorporating rehearsal studios, film screening rooms, artists studios and a large exhibition space, as well as a whole host of other artistic functions. The cafe is an extension of this, with a lovely relaxing feel and a decent courtyard too - perfect for sunny days.
The vibe is very definitely relaxed, with the worn in chairs and plush sofas all inviting you to stay longer than you planned rather than drinking up and going.
There is also food, with a distinctly Mediterranean feel to it - think various types of meat served with salsa, rice and salad, with warming soups to start and hearty slices of cake to finish things off. As the cafe turns into a restaurant, you can also partake in a little tipple should you wish, with wine and beer on offer. Vegetarian and light options like sandwiches are also an option, as is just having cake and coffee, should that be your fancy...
Whether you want to come to the centre to do a course, see a show, or simply head straight for the cafe - you won't be disappointed with the Candid Arts Centre - and it will probably leave you feeling like "Why didn't I know about this before?"
