How about a trip to Venice for the bank holiday? Just think, a ride along the canal, delicious food, a bit of culture. Sounds good, huh? And guess what? You don't even have to travel to Italy to get it.
A trip on the train to Paddington is all you need, because between the 3rd - 5th May, the Inland Waterways Association is holding their annual Canal Cavalcade at Little Venice. This community festival has been running since 1983, and has fun family entertainment, such as boaters' gatherings, a boat parade, market stalls, live music, children's' activities, competitions, and Morris Dancing.
Over a hundred and fifty boats will be on display, including historic working canalboats and holiday & residential narrowboats and cruisers. Don't just look, get on board and take boat trip, or watch theatre and puppet shows on the May Brent. There will also be a Punch & Judy show in Rembrandt Gardens, as well as kayaking, and teddy bears' picnic. Sunday will be extra special with a night-time precession of illuminated boats in bunting.
