Life's a Beach at Camden Town this Summer
If you're desperate to feel the sand between your toes this summer, you won't have to fight the traffic jams to visit the coast. Between midday and 11pm from 27 July to 24 August Camden Beach returns to the Roundhouse. 150 tonnes of sand will be dumped on the terrace and the I-do-like-to-be-beside-the-seaside experience will be completed with deck chairs, beach huts, end-of-the-fair amusements, food and iced drinks.

Fish and chips is the ultimate seaside food and Fishy Business will be popping up to satisfy that particular craving, but if BBQ is more to your taste, Bubba will also be popping along from Spitalfields market to offer a taste of his Arkansas Café.

Did you think that a pier was only something that stretched out over the water for mooring boats and for providing a home for amusement arcades? Think again because Camden Beach Pier will offer the same experience without the need for looking down through the slats and feeling a little queasy. Save your pennies for the penny-pusher machines, and don't forget to buy some candy floss and seaside rock.

If you get a little bored of making sandcastles, Friday evenings will be devoted to music: new urban soul, lo-fi / experimental, acoustic indie and reggae. Farah Fridays is sponsored by Farah vintage.

Summer, sunshine, buckets and spades, sandcastles and deckchairs on the beach at the Roundhouse. King George V is reputed to have said: 'Bugger Bognor'. Why not, when you can come to Camden.
