You know those promotions on branded products, where you type in codes to earn points? I usually find that they are a waste of time, as you either have to collect too many points before they are worth anything, or the prizes are pretty naff. In the case of Anchor Rewards, however, I ended up getting a great deal. For twenty points (just one code) I was able to buy two-for-one for the Cake & Bake Show 2014 at Earls Court. The show is from 3rd October - 5th October and standard tickets are usually 14.50 for adults or 12.50 concessions and 7 children.

This will be my first time there, but it looks like it is set to be a great event. Anyone who loves baking (or eating cake) will find themselves in heaven - but with a lot of little demons at the door, tempting you at every turn.

It is a chance of enthusiasts to improve their baking by learning lots of new skills through demonstrations, workshops, and talks. It is also an opportunity to show off your prowess in the numerous competitions available to enter. These include Exotic Adventures for bakes inspired by far off lands, Modelling Magic for creations made from marzipan or sugar paste. There will be an Autumn Cupcake challenge for Halloween themed designs, Wright's Baking Challenge, where the best baker will get to appear on stage and give a live demonstration.

This will take place in the baking theatre, where many other bakers, such as winners from The Great British Bake Off will also be going head to head.

There is more to baking than just cakes, so if you are a bread-maker like me, then you'll want to pop over to watch some demonstrations in The Bakery.

If you want to give your equipment needs a bit of an update - I'm still using cake tins belonging to my great grandma - there are loads of exhibitors to visit. The Exhibition will feature specialist companies, but if you can't wait to get home and make something, the Marketplace is full of delicious treats. But some food looks just too good to eat. Many artisan bakers are display amazing edible art.

For people who cook, a great chef is just as much a celebrity as a movie star. If you have a favourite, then you might be lucky enough to see them at the show, where many will be giving book signings.
