I used to pop in to when I worked in the area of Colmore Row, and Newhall street - it was a 2 minute walk from the office. That was before university. Four years later I'm working in the same area, so naturally, I thought I'd go into the shop and mull over a magazine before my working day began.

Unfortunately, times have changed. The cafe itself is still open from 7am, Monday to Saturday, so you can enjoy breakfast if you skipped it at home. The cafe is in exactly the same lay out, they appear to have the same, if not a slightly amended drinks list. I have been suffering with an itchy throat as of late, so I opted for the 'Detox' green juice, from the 'freshly pressed juices' menu. Sadly, there is a clear misprint because I saw my server get a carton of concentrated juice from the refrigerator. When I contested the use of contrated, cartoned juice, and questioned why it states 'freshly pressed juices' on the menu, the manager was not happy.

Instead of offering an explanation, or accepting that the menu was wrong, he got aggressive, much to my dismay, and told me to 'get out of the shop'. Horrified. I left. I was merely hoping for a fresh juice to buy before work, and enjoy the (what seemed like), peaceful atmosphere I have fond memories of.

It was a real shame because I know their sandwiches are good, competitively priced and they have a fair range of vegetarian options. The pastries, from what I can remember were always delicious, and though they weren't baked on site, they really hit the spot.

, being a cafe obviously sells coffee, it's not the best in town, but it's usually a decent mug of what you need when energy is lacking. A barista is usually what makes coffee 'good', or 'great' and sadly the staff at aren't quite up to scratch. Initially, when I asked if the juice I selected could substitute apple juice in place of the advertised orange juice the woman behind the counter looked at me as if I'd asked her about the meaning of life.

After a rather sad experience, where the customer service barely ranked on the richter scale I can't recommend . Maybe you'll have a better time when you visit the shop, just don't buy one of the 'freshly pressed juices'.
