Leave the monotony of chain cafes
Sick of chain coffee shops offering luke warm coffee in generic china? I was, and so I headed for Cafe Black. Cafe Black, on Stamford's main high street, is a bustling, independent shop with full windows on two sides facing onto the street. With a simple modern interior, and friendly staff, Cafe Black serves delicious classics with a slight modern take. Think lashings of cream, varying flavours of hot chocolate, and the extra crunch of caramel kernels.

During the winter, specials line the menu. My favourites were the caramel cappuccino with a crisp, generous smattering of honeycomb floating amidst a sea of perfectly frothed milk, and a caramel syrup cobweb.

Or else, try the chocolate orange hot chocolate with lashings of cream covering the tangy orange laced chocolate.

Cafe Black is unpretentious, with slight twists on classics which are always delicious.
