Robert Burns was a Scottish poet who is a national legend in Scotland, but it seems celebrating his birthday on January 25th is pretty popular in Hampshire as well. Traditionally Burns is celebrated with a Burns Night supper, an event where the haggis is the guest of honour and bagpipes and whiskey are essential. In 2018 there are no less than 20 celebrations happening around Southampton and Hampshire, from traditional Burns Night Suppers to Scottish themed afternoon teas and burger specials.

Perhaps one of the most unique Burns Night meals, Chewton Glen are forgoing the traditional multi-course meal and are serving up burgers instead. Their Burns Night special features a Wagyu beef burger with haggis and black pudding served with salad, pickles, dijonnaise dressing and all inside a brioche bun. The burger comes with a side of swede mash and chips.

The Rainbow Centre are putting on the full Burns Night Supper celebration. The evening starts with the piping in of the haggis before the speaker recites Burns's Address to A Haggis.
